Ed Mullen, Chairman – Ed was President of CMG Direct Corp. from April 1997 to April 1999. CMG Direct is the original CMG Information Services (NASDAQ: CMGI) company. During this time, CMGI's market cap increased from $800 million to $13 billion.
Ed is active in the US and International business communities. He was founding president of the Massachusetts Interactive Media Council, playing a vital role in the growth of the IT industry in the Bay State. Ed has spoken at and sponsored conferences in Europe, Central Asia and Africa. He has served on the WGBH Business Executive Council, and the board of Business and Technology for School's. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Boston College's Graduate School of Management, teaching courses on venture capital and mergers & acquisitions.
Ed is an avid sailor, an aviator and the proud father of two daughters. He is also a strong supporter of charitable activities. He is First Vice-Chairman of the board of the Judge Baker Children's Center, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
Joe Bradley, Managing Director – Joe has fifteen years of experience working with technology companies, serving in a wide variety of capacities. Most recently Joe led enterprise sales for Anaqua, Inc. Before heading sales he served as Anaqua’s CFO. Previously, Joe ran business development for Guardian Solutions, a security software company that specializes in automated perimeter protection of critical infrastructure using proprietary digital signal processing technology.
Joe has also spent four years as a technology investment banker in New York and Boston with Hambrecht & Quist. During that time, Joe executed a wide variety of transactions including IPOs, private equity placements, and mergers and acquisitions.
Joe has a BA in Chemistry from Holy Cross, a MS in Environmental Engineering from Northeastern University, and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.
Reg Foster, Managing Director – Reg specializes in technology companies focused in the product, services, outsourcing and systems integration arenas. He has a talent for recognizing embryonic opportunities and growing them rapidly into profitable commercial successes.
Prior to Beacon Equity, Reg served as chairman and CEO of Alpine Access, tripling its sales and quadrupling its value over a two year period of time. From 2001 – 2002 he was the president of the Global Telecommunications Group for the Unisys Corporation – responsible for a $200+ million/yr. IT systems integration, consulting, outsourcing and product business with 100 clients in 40 countries. In the 1990s, Reg was SVP, acting CTO and Chief eCommerce Officer of AMS, Inc., a systems integration, consulting and software product firm. Reg played a catalytic role in growing AMS from a pre-IPO startup to a $1+ billion business, and increasing eBusiness revenues from $17 million/yr. to more than $100 million/yr.
A Harvard graduate, Reg holds both an MBA with distinction and a bachelor’s degree. He serves on the boards of two companies and one charitable foundation. Reg is an active participant in local government, community television, affordable housing, while raising his children on the South Coast of Massachusetts.
Christian Hostmann, Managing Director – Christian has more than fourteen years of experience with investing and venture capital. He was the founder of Venture Catalyst GmbH, a German incubator for IT businesses, where he helped fuel and guide the growth of several successful companies. In earlier years, Christian was an Investment Manager in the venture capital affiliate of HypoVereinsbank AG, Munich, where he was responsible for sourcing German venture capital opportunities, making new investments, and managing the existing portfolio. Prior to that, he was Vorstands-Assistant of a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank AG, Deutsche Beteiligungs AG in Frankfurt/Main, where he assisted in the reorganization of the business and managed private equity investments in mid-size companies in Germany and worldwide. Christian also helped create the concept for Deutsche Venture Capital GmbH (DVC) and joined the firm as Investment Manager. He also worked with Crédit Lyonnais in France, and was a consultant for HBS Consulting Partners in Berlin.
Christian earned his Master/Licenciate in Business Administration at University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland. He earned his qualifications in banking with Commerzbank AG in Frankfurt/Main. Christian lives in Munich, Germany.
